Post link from 6/5 Not cool So everything sucks even more as of yesterday 6/10. I got some bad news from the insurance guy. The car is a total loss he said, the market value of the car was assessed at $3,900. The estimate for the repairs is $3,800. Insurance guy pretty much said they can cut me a check for $3,900 and then they will take the car and do whatever they do with it and I will walk away. Not good, the only other option he said was that they will cut me a check for $2,600 and I get to keep the car. Which means I have to fork up the additional $1,200 myself. Frickin insurance companies, what is another $1,200 to help out your customer that was not even in or near his car at the time of the accident. He said the only other way to get more dough than the $2,600 is to fax over parts invoices that Bernie gave me when I got the car from him. I roughly put together 20 invoices for parts and faxed them over today in my attempt to get another $1,200 from them. Why should I have to pay anyways? What sucks is the car was in the same predicament just a few months ago. The title is now "salvage" again, so once its fixed I have got to bring the DMV guy out to inspect it in order to get it titled "rebuilt" which Bernie just did in April. I know fun times, right?
